Luiss student Marianna Haddad began the single-cycle master’s degree in Law in 2014. “I remember that in my last year of high school I was looking for a university that offered international opportunities, and so I chose Luiss, which gave me the chance to begin a specialization in the fourth year.”
Marianna chose the specialization in International Law, which allowed her to gain “solid legal preparation with a clear purpose, to enter the job market while pursuing an international calling.”
During her time at Luiss, Marianna participated in two different study abroad programs. The first, in France, with Université Sciences Po de Strasbourg, showed her “the sense of union that European citizenship creates between strangers that share the same roots.”
For her final year of studies, Marianna participated in the Double Degree with Fordham University in New York. “It was an incredible opportunity that allowed me to obtain an LLM in International Law and Justice. The energy of New York stole my heart and opened my eyes to a new world.”
Her time in New York was important both academically and personally. “Experiencing a legal system different so different from ours in Italy, enthusiastically accepting challenges that the new environment presented me and creating strong relationships made it an unforgettable experience.”
“I have to thank the Student Exchange Office and the International Development Office for their professionalism and their willingness to help me with my experiences abroad,” she adds.
Marianna remembers her time at the University fondly: “The classrooms, where my friends and I became family, linked by enthusiasm for our shared experience. Lessons with excellent professors, thanks to whom I received solid legal preparation, will stay with me forever. The seminars and extra activities the University organized also enriched my academic experience.”
To students interested in a similar path, Marianna advises to “not hesitate to take advantage of all the chances Luiss offers, there are so many and they add incredible value. Then, have the courage to take on the world. Don’t be intimidated. Pursue your passion with tenacity and dedication.”
Marianna is currently working on her thesis. “With Professor Daniele Gallo, I chose a thesis that summarizes my academic path and my passions, exploring the contribution that the European Union provides the United Nations in peacekeeping missions.”
Her personal and academic experiences have not changed her dream of a career in diplomacy. “Once I graduate, after the summer, I will begin preparation for the exam to enter the foreign service. I have always been fascinated by this world and I am sure it will be a great adventure.
