The LUISS Board of Directors has chosen Carlo Messina, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo, as Alumnus 2015.
Messina was selected from a shortlist of high-profile candidates proposed by the Associazione Laureati LUISS for the first annual award, to highlight successful alumni who have gone on to become successful professional and leaders on both the national and international level. A graduate in Economics and Commerce, Messina began his career with the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro in 1987 before landing at the Intesa group in 1995.
“At nearly thirty years from the founding of our association, this award was designed to mark an intergenerational pact and a renewed vision for our community of over 30,000 LUISS alumni,” states Daniele Pelli, President of the Associazione Laureati LUISS. “Carlo Messina embodies a model of dedication, vision and enterprise without rivals, and an inspiration to the entire community of alumni. His contribution to the development and growth models for the university was the motivation behind this recognition.”
“Our alumni are an extraordinary asset to the university, thanks to the incomparable set of values and expertise that they transmit to the world,” comments LUISS President Emma Marcegaglia. “Having a high-profile figure like Carlo Messina in the LUISS community is a point of pride for all of us.”
The award banquet will take place Wednesday, December 16, 2015 on the Viale Romania campus. Celebrating the Alumnus of the Year will not only be LUISS graduates but university leaders, institutional representatives and figures from the business world.
