Between Villa Torlonia and Villa Massimo lies the home where Luigi Pirandello spent the last years of his life, from 1933 until 1936.
The Studio di Luigi Pirandello is now home to the Istituto di Studi Pirandelliani e sul Teatro Contemporaneo, that has promoted the study of Pirandello’s life and works, as well as contemporary theater since 1961.
The institute has conserved the original furnishings and everyday objects, including the author’s 2,000 books and his faithful portable typewriter. Visitors can schedule guided visits or visit the library, containing a collection of critical works on the life and works of Luigi Pirandello. The center also organizes occasional events and talks.
April’s calendar of events is dedicated to readings of Pirandello’s notebooks, where he wrote, documented and listed the results of his incessant study of language.
