The Call for applications to the comparative selection procedure, based on qualifications and possible interview, for the assignment of nr. 1 collaboration contract (incarico di collaborazione autonoma coordinata e continuativa) to meet the needs of the Department of Political Science, within the project (hereinafter "the project LATIF"), UPC: I53C2300014000 is online.

Interested candidates should apply by dd, January 22 at 12:00 noon.

The project titled “Leveraging Argument Technology for Impartial Fact-Checking” – “LATIF”, is funded by the European Media & Information Fund (EMIF) as managed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as managed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation .

The project LATIF is coordinated by the research center Data Lab at Luiss University Guido Carli - specialized in data, new technologies, artificial intelligence in the fight against disinformation.

Within the project LATIF, Data Lab coordinates a high-profile international team composed of experts in digital narratives and disinformation in collaboration with the University of Dundee, the University of Liverpool and with the think tank T6 Ecosystems.

The project LATIF brings the methodology of Competing Hypothesis Analysis (ACH) into the fact checking domain to counteract and control cognitive biases in the fact checking process. The project will develop a new generation of ACH based digital tools to enhance and improve decision-making processes of fact-checking organizations.

The project LATIF begins with a qualitative assessment of fact-checkers' understanding and identification of cognitive bias and then exploits these insights to inform the design of a digital infrastructure to improve fact-checkers' decision-making processes towards impartiality (de-bias factchecking tool). The usefulness of these tools will then be assessed through the feedback provided by fact-checkers and by observing potential changes in the public visibility of fact-checks enhanced by combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The selected candidate will collaborate with the entire Data Lab network in achieving the objectives including the Italian Digital Media Observatory, the national hub of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), with Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana Spa TIM S.p.A., Pagella Politica, News Guard, University of Tor Vergata, the GE.DI. Group S.p.A. with the Republic and others national and international supporters.

The comparative evaluation procedure is aimed at selecting No. 1 collaborator to support the research activities of the project, on Decoding Information Spread and Leveraging Social Network Analysis for Insights, specifically through social network analysis to understand diffusion flows of information.

The contract will start on start, compatibly with the timing of administrative procedures, in the current month and the duration is set in the contract following the comparative selection process, until the end of the project (October 31, 2024).

A presence in Rome is required.

Academic-professional curriculum vitae dated and signed, made in the form of a declaration in lieu of affidavit, pursuant to articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of 28 December 2000, in English where to indicate the level held of English Knowledge and any certifications.

Copy of the awarded PhD or Research PhD qualification obtained abroad (and in this case, of all supporting documents useful for the evaluation of the qualification by the appointed Committee).

Copy of a valid Identity document.

Declaration in lieu of certification / affidavit pursuant to articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of 28 December 2000 made, as an alternative to certification issued by the relevant authorities, on plain paper and without authentication of signature, regarding the possession of academic qualifications, postgraduate qualifications, qualifications enabling one to practice a profession, etc., useful to proving one's qualification, evaluation, employment record, professional engagements and regarding all other situations, facts and personal qualities not included in the list set out in article 46 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of 28 December 2000.

Declaration in lieu of affidavit pursuant to articles 19 and 47 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of 28 December 2000, made on plain paper and without authentication of signature, regarding the fact that the copies of the qualifications and publications submitted are true copies of the originals.

The comparative selection, which will be carried out through a special evaluation committee, will consist of a preliminary evaluation of the candidates' admission requirements and qualifications, and be followed by a possible interview.

The outcome of the selection procedure and the final ranking list will be published on the relevant Luiss web page, as well as the eventual list of candidates summoned to the interview, the relevant time and the manner or place of the interview.
