Luiss wins an important European grant with the project "MediaFutures, Data-driven innovation hub for the media value chain". The project, submitted by a consortium including Luiss, received funding for nearly €5 million euro. Falling under the EU Program for funding research and innovation, Horizon 2020, the project is centered on "DT-ICT-05-2020 Big Data Innovation Hubs".
Coordinated by consortium partner, Leibniz University of Hannover, MediaFutures aims to support the European community in breaking down “data silos” and in catalyzing the sharing, reutilization and exchange of data to promote new business opportunities for European firms. The MediaFutures 10-partner consortium (comprised of academic institutions and non-), will create a second generation, virtual data innovation hub that will bring with it, opportunities for funding, mentoring and supporting entrepreneurial and creative projects aimed at reshaping the media value chain through responsible, innovative usages of data.
The Luiss team includes: Gianni Riotta, Dean of Luiss School of Journalism and Director of Luiss Data Lab, Livia De Giovanni, Professor in statistics and Director of CeFOP - Research Center on the Economics of Education and Training, Giuseppe Italiano, Professor in Computer Science and Giovanni Orsina, Professor in History of Journalism and Electronic Media and Director of the School of Government.
